Connor at 'Cross events
CRCA Jr Dev.'s Connor Sallee takes 2nd in the 2/3/4 field in the Craigmeur 'cross race.
From Connor Himself:
"cross is awesome, everyone should try it. it'd be nice if more juniors got out there, so there would be legit junior fields at the races - none of this 2-person garbage. the racing has been really good in the B's though, i'm only a few points away from my 2 upgrade which i'll probably get before the season's end. hopefully the road season will be comparable to this cross season's results, cause it's nice getting top 5 every time in senior races. whoo!
as for the rest of the season, i think i'll keep it generally local, i'm not going to nationals or anything, don't think i'm good enough, and it's expensive ... who wants to go to kentucky in december, seriously... i'm going to the USGP in new jersey though, see how i do in the national circuit. after that it'll just be local races until maybe the beginning or middle of december, and then it's back to road. no breaks, thats not hardcore."

Lewis Finishes Off Strong
Following an incredibly demanding July, which included the Annual Fitchburg Longsjo Classic, where he finished 10th overall; the Canadian UCI World Cup sanctioned Tour de l’Abitibi, which he raced as a chosen member of the Northeast Regional Team along with our own Graham Lang and Connor Sallee; and US Junior Road Nationals, CRCA JrDev/Orbea ‘s Lewis Almonte capitalized on his high-flying form, snagging several top finishes in the month of August.

Lewis began his convincing campaign with a 2nd place finish at the New York State Time Trial Championships up in Stillwater, NY, just ten seconds off the pace of the Junior Category’s winner. The following weekend, Lewis laid it down with two top-five finishes Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday was the Mengoni Grand Prix, a New York City classic that holds enough prestige to even draw out seasoned professionals to line up for the pre-dawn start of the Pro/1/2 race. Lining up for CRCA JrDev/Orbea in the cat.3 event was Graham Lang, Connor Sallee, Ian Harris, and Lewis Almonte, while Liam Quigley and Khary Ward looked to defend our home turf in the junior field.
Late in the cat.3 race, Lewis helped initiate an attack that drew three other riders to either join or bridge up to him. Almonte was the main motor of the break, doing more than his fair share of the work to hold the peloton at ten seconds back. On the bell lap, Lewis made the decision that is was wiser to pull the break to the finish rather than to skip pulls like his breakaway companions, get swallowed up by the peloton, and then contest the eighty-man strong field sprint. As a result, the break barely survived with Lewis hanging on for 4th place. Liam also found his way into the winning break in the combined junior, pro/1/2/3 women field. Liam rode off the front of the break on the final lap to grab a spot on the podium in 2nd.
After racing the Mengoni GP Lewis made the trip upstate for the cat.3 event of the 24th Annual Chris Thater Memorial race in Binghamton, NY. Again, Almonte’s attentiveness and aggressiveness led him to sniff out the winning break, which included six riders in all. Coming into the finish, Lewis took a page out of his brother’s, Euri Madera’s, book, and opened up the after burners crossing the line in 1st place -- one of CRCA JrDev/Orbea’s biggest results to date!
Stay tuned for reports about the team’s trip up to Vermont to take on the Green Mountain Stage Race - a regional classic with a profile is more jagged and undulating than a 1999 Bill Clinton polygraph chart…
